Changelog & Update History
Dandle is actively developed and updated often. Here's a rundown of recent features and improvements. The game version is always shown on the title screen.
v5.9.420 Replay accuracy
July 2026
- Replays match what you saw. Clips now capture the full frame at your screen's aspect ratio instead of a zoomed-in centre crop, so the saved video is the view you actually played.
- Camera moves are recorded. Orbiting or zooming while the structure is at rest now counts as activity, so a clip never shows a stale angle.
- Clips end on the outcome. The recorder freezes shortly after a win or loss, so the clip keeps the run-up instead of filling with the frozen game-over screen.
v5.9.415 Letters, music & sharing
July 2026
- Letter orientation fix. Corrected the texture mapping so letters read upright on every face of a cube instead of appearing mirrored from behind.
- Better soundtrack. All levels now share a consistent improvised soundtrack anchored to a chord progression, with a soft echo for warmth and humanized percussion. Tempo still rises as your structure grows.
- Replay clips. Save a clip of the last few seconds at any time (press Caps Lock), export as MP4, WebM, or GIF, and choose your own replay buffer length in Settings.
v5.9.400 Settings, controls & custom play
July 2026
- Redesigned settings screen with a cleaner layout, a full controls reference, and grouped categories.
- Choose your starting word. A new option lets you pick the free word you begin each level with.
- Free build mode for sandbox construction, now supporting blank
?cubes. - Single-click start and a faster, smoother game launch.
v5.9.373 Rendering & performance
June 2026
- Lightweight anti-aliasing toggle for smoother edges.
- Tunable print/halftone filter — adjust dot size, strength, and grain for the game's signature newspaper look, or turn it off.
- Cleaner background using the camera's sky color, and reworked neon goal glow.
- Performance improvements to loading and physics stepping.
v5.9.350 Music system
June 2026
- Title-screen music that starts on your first interaction.
- Per-level keys so each level has its own musical color.
- Adaptive tempo that scales with the number of cubes in your structure.
